Best Cuban cyclist to attend the World Cup of Beijing

    HAVANA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cuban best cyclist Yumari Gonzalez will attend the forth stage of the Trail World Cup of Beijing from Jan. 22 to 24, the Cuban National Cycling Federation said on Sunday.

    Gonzalez, two-time world winner at scratch specialty, will travel to China on Jan. 18 accompanied by her coach Leonel Alvarez, a local radio station said on Sunday quoting the Cuban Cycling Federation.

    Gonzalez seeks to expand her triumphs at the World Cup, after she had great success at the competitions of Manchester and Cali, Colombia.

    In Manchester, Gonzalez won the second place at the race by point, while in Cali she won the forth place at the same specialty.

    However, in Cali she won the third place at the scratch category.

    Gonzales is at second place of the race by points, with 17 units, surpassed by Italian Giorgia Bronzini.

    The competition to be hosted in Beijing will also give points for the World Championship, scheduled for March 24 to 28 in Denmark.

    Gonzalez is the only Cuban cyclists with four medals of World Cups, she won gold medals in the World Cups of 2007 and 2009 at the scratch category, she also won silver in the world Cup of 2008 also in scratch category and a bronze medal in 2009 at point race.
