MADRID, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores said on Sunday he was pleased with the way his players has reacted from Cup humiliation to respond with a win in Valladolid.
Atletico recovered from its 3-0 defeat to Recreativo Huelva in midweek to thrash Valladolid 4-0 away from home on Saturday night.
The win came after two days in which Quique had criticized his players and sent them on a punishment run through the woods in the snow.
The seemed to have worked as Jose Jurado, Diego Forlan, Jose Antonio Reyes and Kun Aguero scored Atletico's goals in a comfortable away win.
"We saw a good version of Atletico, serious and with a good attitude. We had intensity on our play and that is good, that is the way we want to go and these players are capable of doing that," he told the Sunday edition of sports paper Diario AS.
Quique denied that making his players train in the snow the day after the Recreativo defeat had been a punishment.
"I don't believe in that, I believe in dialogue and in seeing things as they are. I don't believe in punishment."
"We all have the same obligations and I am delighted that Atletico has been able to get back on track,"
The match saw striker Forlan score after a long drought in front of goal, but the Atletico coach didn' t want to highlight any individual performances.
