MACAO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Germany's top pair Timo Boll/Christian Suss claimed the men's doubles title at the table tennis seasonal final for a second time here on Saturday while China's teenagers Ding Ning/Liu Shiwen took the women's crown in their first attempt in the competition.

    The German duo repeated their glory in the 2005 edition of Pro Tour Grand Finals with a comfort win over Gao Ning/Yang Zi from Singapore in a score of 11-6, 11-9, 11-4, 5-11 and 11-5.

    Liu Shiwen, teamed up with Ding Ning, shook off the downcast condition in her early exit in the singles event, and subdued Jiang Huajun/Tie Yana from Hong Kong, China, to clinch the doubles title in five sets (11-4, 6-11, 11-8, 15-13, 11-5).

    "There is a big responsibility on us as we are the only pair from China to compete in the doubles event here," said Liu, stepping on the top of the women's world rankings for the first time last Sunday. "Therefore, we are happy to win finally."

    Liu, who suffered a 2-4 loss to Japan's Ai Fukuhara on Friday due to illness, was criticized by the head coach of China's women team Shi Zhihao as not mentally strong enough. He pointed that Zhang Yining, the former world No. 1 replaced by Liu, would have made it under the same circumstance.

    "I looked into myself and regretted not pushing myself the hardest in that game," said the 18-year-old rising star. "I had learned that as a good player, I should do all my best to vie for a win without any excuse, especially as a Chinese table tennis player."

    Liu and her partner Ding held back the challenges from the veteran opponents in the fourth set to win in 15-13, and therefore shattered their hope of a reversion.

    "She played positively today and even helped me to be positive on court," said Ding.
