SOFIA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Metalurg Donetsk of Ukraine said on Friday it has signed Bulgarian midfielder Chavdar Yankov from the German club Hanover 96 on a two-and-a-half year contract.

    The 25-year-old, who spent the last six months on loan with German side Duisburg, will team up with Bulgarian coach Nikolay Kostov and fellow countryman and midfielder Velizar Dimitrov at Metalurg.

    Yankov has scored five goals in 37 caps for his country.
