BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions Guangdong Hongyuan cruised Friday to the eighth consecutive win by crushing Zhejiang Chouzhou 112-97 at home in the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).

The five-time CBA champions proved a class of their own to keep the perfect record as most of the opponents gave up the face-off with Guangdong even before the start of the game.

The Zhejiang did not start their top domestic scorer Ding Junhui, who had only one point and three rebounds in seven minutes, and most of the starters played more or less one quarter in total.

Guard Wang Shipeng had the season-high personal best of 30 points and 10 rebounds to help Guangdong lead 88-65 to enter the final quarter.

Jiangsu Dragons beat Shanghai Sharks 106-103 and the victory might save the job of head coach Jason Rabedeuox.

The Dragons had a meeting before Friday's match and a replacement of Rabedeuox had been decided. The decision might have been announced could the team have lost to Shanghai.

The Sharks went back from 16 points deficit to close it on 104-103 with 46 seconds to go. Hu Xuefeng made two free-throws and the Sharks failed on a 3-pointer attempt down the stretch.

Jameel Watkins led the Dragons by 25 points and 11 rebounds. Six Shanghai players scored at least 10 points with Liu Wei chipping in the game-high 28 points.

In other matches, Beijing Ducks beat Dongguan Marco Polo 104-93,Shaanxi Kylin defeated Qingdao Double Stars 115-92, Xinjiang Guanghui edged Shanxi Zhongyu 103-97, Shandong Gold thrashed Tianjin Ronggang 117-81 and Fujian SBS nailed down Liaoning Panpan 110-101.
