SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- OneAsia has welcomed the GS Caltex Maekyung Open, one of the premier professional golf tournaments in South Korea, onto its burgeoning 2010 schedule.

The tournament will be played at its traditional home at the Namseoul Country Club in Seoul from May 6-9. The final prize money will be confirmed at a later date.

The 29th GS Caltex Maekyung Open is the most recent addition to this year's 11-event OneAsia schedule and is another strong indication that OneAsia continues to gather momentum.

Growing from five tournaments in 2009 to 11 this year, and with a stellar cast of tournament winners including Adam Scott, Liang Wenchong, Robert Allenby, Bae Sang-moon and Scott Strange, OneAsiawill continue to expand and plans to offer 17-20 tournaments in 2011.

In announcing the elevation of the tournament in 2010, Chang Dae-whan, Chairman of Maekyung, said: "With OneAsia in 2010, I have confidence that a prestigious golf tournament, Maekyung Open, will become one of the top-level golf events in the world as well as the Asia-Pacific region."

Bae Sang-moon won last year's GS Caltex Maekyung Open after fending off a strong challenge from compatriot Ted Oh in a thrilling playoff before the 23-year-old South Korean star went onto win September's Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open, the first OneAsia tournament held in the Land of Morning Calm.

The 2010 OneAsia schedule will feature three tournaments in South Korea, including the inaugural 1 million U.S. dollars Seoul Open in June and October's US$1 million Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open, where Bae will attempt to win his national title for the third year in arow.

This year's OneAsia schedule commences with the Luxehills Championship in Chengdu from April 1-4, the first of four events in China, with the season again culminating with the Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.
