Jerry Stackhouse to take trial in Shanxi of CBA

    BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Former Dallas Mavericks' guard Jerry Stackhouse will take trials at Shanxi Zhongyu of the ChineseBasketball Association (CBA) league, local media reported on Thursday.

    Stackhouse, 35, was expected to arrive Taiyuan, Shanxi Province,on Wednesday, but remained in the United States due to visa problems, the league's official site cbachina.com reported.

    Officials of the Zhongyu confirmed the news and said Stackhouse would come to China in a few days, according to the report.

    The 13-year NBA veteran might take the place of Dota Smith, who was reported having fight with boss Wang Xingjiang in the locker-room.

    Stackhouse averaged 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in10 games last season with the Mavericks. He was sent to the Memphis Grizzlies in a four-team, eight-player trade on July 9 and was waived by the Grizzlies on the following day.

    The swingman was named All-Star two times in 2000 and 2001. His NBA career averages were 18.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
