WELLINGTON, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Flavia Pennetta of Italy and Shahar Peer of Israel both advanced to the final eight of the ASB Classic women's tennis tournament in Auckland on Wednesday.

    Top seed Pennetta dismissed Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2, 6- 0 in one hour and 18 minutes.

    Earlier, Peer continued her strong form in the tournament thrashing Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova 6-0, 6-1 in little over an hour to become the first player to reach the quarter finals of the Classic.
