BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Skype, the software application for users calling over the Internet, said that its service will be embedded in high-definition TVs with Internet capabilities, according to news reports on Wednesday.

The company said that its calling technology will be seen in Panasonic and LG's new HD TVs with webcams and netcasts. The TVs are reportedly to hit the market in a few months later.

Skype, which an investor group led by Silver Lake in last November bought from eBay Inc., offers free voice and video phone calls to Skype users, and its text chat provides group chats as well as offline message services.

Skype said that users would soon be able to make higher-definition video calls on their PCs and laptops.

The Internet phone company also announced the upcoming webcams and netcasts, which are to be released in February and March, will support the video phone calls.
