MONTEVIDEO, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The team of Buenos Aires won on Tuesday the Rugby Seven International of Uruguayan resort Punta del Este, beating Samoa 17-12 in a match hosted in Campus Maldonado.
The Rugby Union of Buenos Aires (URBA) won the 21st edition of the competition with a defensive game and good offense at the crucial moments.
Samoa, arrived to the championship seeking its third triumph.
With a score of 17-7 at the end of the first half, Samoa was able to shorten the distance to 17-12 during the second half, but it was not able to surpass Buenos Aires' team.
Earlier, Tonga beat Italy 24-7 for the second place, and Bridgestone VII was third, winning 28-17 over Toyota VII.
The tournament began the weekend with the participation of 21 teams including national teams, territory teams and clubs.
