Russian Chagin wins third stage at trucks of Dakar Rally

    BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Russian Vladimir Chagin of Kamaz team won the third stage at truck category of the Dakar Rally Argentina-Chile 2010 on Monday, achieving his 50th stage triumph at the history of the Rally.

    Chagin, five times winner of the Rally, finished the stage between the Argentine cities of La Rioja and Fiambala in a time of3 hours, 26 minutes and 53 seconds, followed by Russian Firdaus Kabirov also from Kamaz team 11 minutes 56 seconds behind.

    Brazilian Antonio de Azevedo of Tatra team arrived third 37:09 behind. Czech Ales Loprais of Tatra team abandoned the Rally due to a mechanical failure occurred in the second stage between Cordoba and La Rioja on Sunday.

    At the general standings, Chagin is placed first with a total time of 10:37:47, followed by Kabirov 18:43 trailing and De Azevedo 1:03:42 behind.
