CANBERRA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Third seed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia overcame host player Jelena Dokic 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 on Monday to qualify for the second round of the Brisbane International tennis tournament.
The former world number one converted her second match point to win after she took three months off since September, failed to win a title in 2009 and slipped to number 21 in the world rankings.
Another former world number one Justine Henin of Belgium will play her comeback match against Russian Nadia Petrova.

Henin announced her retirement in 2008 as then world number one.
In the men's competition, Frenchman Richard Gasquet started his comeback from a turmoil-filled six months with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Finland's Jarkko Nieminen.
Gasquet was just cleared of cocaine use as the Court of Arbitration for Sport last month rejected an appeal from the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Tennis Federation against him.
He'd served a 2 1/2-month suspension but the WADA and ITF wanted him banned for at least a year.
But the CAS accepted Gasquet's claim that he inadvertently consumed cocaine by kissing a woman in a Miami club hours after withdrawing injured from a tournament.
In other men's first-round results, Frenchman Marc Gicquel beat German Philipp Petzschner 6-3, 6-1 and American Wayne Odesnik beat French veteran Arnaud Clement 6-4, 7-6 (2).
