JAKARTA, Jan. 2 (Xinhu) -- Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will discuss proposals and ideas to make his predecessor Abdurrahman Wahid as a national hero, the Jakartapost.com quoted an official as saying on Saturday.
"We have heard inputs from people about the hero nomination. The president will seek the opinion from some people and related institutions (about the idea)," the presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said.
Julian added that the president would discuss about the nomination with the justice and human rights minister as well as the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs.
The National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle said earlier that they would sponsor the proposal to make Gus Dur a national hero.
The former Speaker of People's Assembly Amien Rais also said automatically, Wahid should get the title.
"He deserves to get the title of national hero. No one or no party should doubt about that," said Amien as quoted by Kompas.com.
After Wahid died on Wednesday at 18:45 Jakarta time (1145 GMT), many people sent their aspiration that the figure should get the title of national hero.
