JAKARTA, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Governor of Indonesia's Jakarta Fauzi Bowo presented awards for 64 athletes from Jakarta who participated in the recent 25th Southeast Asian Games in Vientiane, Laos, the Jakartapost.com reported on Wednesday.
Of the 64 athletes, 10 clinched gold medals, 12 silver medals and 19 bronze ones.
"This proves that Jakarta has held its predicate as a warehouse of athletes," Fauzi said in his speech.
Head of the Jakarta chapter of the National Sports Council Winny Erwindia said the funds for awards for the athletes would betaken from the 2009 city budget.
"Individual gold medalists will receive 70 million rupiah (about 7,000 U.S. dollars), silver medalists will receive 25 million rupiah (about 2,500 dollars) while the bronze medalists will receive 12.5 million rupiah (1,250 dollars)," she said.
She announced the awards for athletes in pairs and groups as well as coaches.
She also said athletes who did not win a medal would still get 2.5 million rupiah (250 dollars).
Indonesia, ranked 3rd after Thailand and Vietnam, got 43 gold medals, 53 silver medals and 74 bronze medals.
