BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government Wednesday told the nation's financial institutions to step up credit support to foreign-invested businesses and allowed them more access to financing.

    Foreign-invested companies would be encouraged to take part in the merges and acquisitions of the Chinese enterprises, according to the statement issued after an executive meeting of the State Council, or the Cabinet, chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.
