GAZA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Deposed Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya plans to reshuffle his government which controls the Gaza Strip, a Hamas newspaper reported on Monday.
"Haneya's amendments in the cabinet intended to meet political and administrative developments," al-Ressalla newspaper said, quoting undisclosed sources.
Most of Haneya's current cabinet members hold more than one portfolio. The new government would expand and some ministers will be replaced, according to the report.
Taher al-Nounou, spokesman for Haneya, refused to confirm or deny the report.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sacked the Hamas-led unity government after the Islamic movement routed his forces and took over Gaza by force in 2007.
In defiance of Abbas's decision, Hamas continued ruling Gaza with the deposed government that shrunk when independents and ministers loyal to Abbas's Fatah party quit.
Abbas formed a Western-backed government based in the West Bank.
