SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's second-largest mobile operator KT Corp. said Monday it will tap the Chinese telecommunications market starting from purchasing a 25 percent stake in Omnitel China.
"The purchase is made in a bid to support our subsidiaries and other domestic mobile contents providers' entry into the Chinese market, while we seek related business opportunities there," KT was quoted as saying in a local media report.
Omnitel China is a Chinese subsidiary of South Korea's Omnitel Inc. which specializes in telecommunications services, KT said.
Omnitel China has 12 million subscribers to its mobile service via China's mobile carriers, such as China Mobile, and plans to further move into entertainment content markets, it added.
