China's Central Economic Work Conference

    BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- China would continue to adopt the proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy next year and endeavor to improve the quality of economic growth, participants at the Central Economic Work Conference agreed Monday.

    Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao addressed the meeting, which is held once a year to set the tone for economic development during the next year, said a statement from the conference. Full story

    COPENHAGEN, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said here Friday that China had made unremitting efforts and a positive contribution to the global fight against climate change through energy conservation and pollution reduction.

    Speaking at the leaders' meeting of the Copenhagen climate change conference, Wen said, "China has taken climate change very seriously in the course of its development."  Full story
