WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Washington Wizards star playmaker Gilbert Arenas was investigated after he admitted put unloaded guns in his locker, the NBA club said on Thursday.

Arenas and the club "are cooperating fully with law enforcement during its review of this matter and will have no further comment at this time," the club said in a statement.

The club said no ammunition was in his locked container.

NBA labor regulations allow players to own firearms but ban them from having weapons at league facilities or while traveling on NBA-related matters.

All-Star guard Arenas told the Washington Times that he wanted his guns out of his house after his daughter Hamiley was born earlier this month, so he brought them to the locker.

Arenas said he handed the guns to team security about a week after he took them there.
