RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Confederation of Brazilian Basketball announced on Sunday that the future of the men's national team head coach Moncho Monsalve is in limbo.

Both the entity and the coach decided to reevaluate the situation on January 15, 2010.

The uncertainty surrounding the Spaniard's permanence as the head coach of Brazilian men's basketball team revolves around Monsalve's health and other offers throughout the market. The coach is recovering from a recent back surgery. He also received offers from two teams in South America as well as one from Europe.

Brazil hopes to re-sign the coach that led them to qualify for the 2010 World Championships of basketball to be held in Turkey in August of next year. However, Monsalve's health remains his priority. Additionally, salary will influence the coach's decision as he is well aware that he is sought after.

The technical director of the Confederation of Brazilian Basketball, Andre Alvez, met with Monsalve on Sunday to discuss matters. Both parties decided to resume talks on January 15.

Alvez demonstrated his desire to have Monsalve head the Brazilian team through the Olympic Games of 2016, of which will beheld on Brazilian soil in Rio de Janeiro.
