BEIRUT, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday that Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's visit to Syria is a positive step that promotes a calm and relaxing climate in Lebanon, the Shiite armed group's Al-Manar TV reported on Sunday.

However, Nasrallah said that despite this, some (political) actors are still being bribed to continue criticizing the Resistance, referring to Hezbollah, and its weapons.

Nasrallah said that many people are questioning the use and importance of the Resistance's weapons, which he said, are now strong enough to defeat Israel.

The Hezbollah leader also said that racial and ethnic conflicts have always existed, but some people are using the tensions to their own advantage. Nasrallah said some parties have tried to exploit a small misunderstanding between the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, both are in the opposition March 8 Alliance, but now their relationship is on good terms.

Nasrallah's remarks came after Hariri's ongoing visit to Syria. It is the first time that Hariri visit Damascus since his father Rafic, who also served as Prime Minister was assassinated on Feb. 14, 2005. Syria is suspected of being involved in the assassination, but Damascus has constantly denied the accusation.

Along with Iran, Syria is one of the major supporters of Hezbollah, a group that is believed holding abundant well-equipped weapons in a bid to fight against Israel.

Nasrallah also said that Israel continues to threaten Lebanon, especially after his party's participation in the cabinet.

The major part of Lebanon's parliamentary opposition March 8 Alliance, Hezbollah holds two seats in Hariri's national unity government.

The government formed in last month and turned a blind eye to Hezbollah's weapons.
