Central government's support key for Macao's prosperity

    BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- A senior official with the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macao said Wednesday that the central government's support is the key for Macao's prosperity.

    "Since Macao's return to the motherland ten years ago, the central government hasn't taken a dime from Macao. Instead, it has been strongly supportive to Macao," Bai Zhijian, director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macao, told Xinhua. Full story

Chinese President to attend 10th anniversary of Macao's return

    BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend the ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, which falls on Dec. 20, said the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee General Office on Wednesday.

    Hu, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will stay in Macao on Dec. 19-20, according to a statement issued by the office. Full story
