RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Corinthians soccer club began to sell Roberto Carlos' jersey on Tuesday when the left back has signed a two year contract with the Brazilian club.

    The star defender, who will be wearing number six, has not yet been officially presented to the media and fans, but the club wasted no time in taking advantage of the holidays to sell merchandise.

    The jersey is being sold for roughly 80 U.S. dollars.

    Carlos is expected to have an official welcome ceremony on January 4.

    BRASILIA, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Brazilian soccer team Corinthians officially announced on Tuesday the signing of left-back Roberto Carlos after the player decided not to extend his contract with Fenerbahce of Turkey next season.

    Carlos will be officially presented on Jan. 4 at the Corinthians stadium Parque Sao Jorge in Sao Paulo, and will be wearing number 6. Full story
