KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti emir on Monday reiterated support for Saudi Arabia in dealing with foreign aggression, which targets its sovereignty and security.

"We reiterate our condemnation and reprobation of such aggressions and hostilities," Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah said at the opening ceremony of the 30th summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held in Kuwait City.

He said Kuwait supports Riyadh for all the procedures it takes to defend its sovereignty and security, adding that violation of Saudi's security and stability poses as "an aggression on the security of all GCC countries."

Yemen's Shiite insurgents, or the Houthis, accused military forces from neighboring Saudi Arabia of shooting at a northern border district in support of the Yemeni government in its military attacks against them in October.

However, Saudi Arabia denied the accusation, and said it was merely fighting aggression to its territories bordering northern Yemen.

"On the same base, we look forward that security and stability prevail in the brotherly Republic of Yemen," the Kuwaiti emir said.

He said that Kuwait supports Yemen in all its efforts to boost development and prosperity, and to maintain its unity and sovereignty over its territories.

The situation in northern Yemen kept deteriorating as the government forces and rebels have reportedly rejected a ceasefire, and 35,000 people around the northern Yemen city of Saada have been displaced by conflicts over the past several weeks, according to a report released by the United Nation's refugee agency.
