PRAGUE, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Davis Cup team won the best Czech tennis player of 2009 award, presented by President Vaclav Klaus at a ceremony in Prerov on Friday.

    Radek Stepanek and Lucie Safarova were awarded the best male and female tennis players of the year.

    The Czech Davis Cup team has advanced to the tournament's finals for the first time in 29 years.

    A team, not an individual player, has won the trophy for the first time in the poll's 17-year history.
