SHIJIAZHUANG, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The police of Shijiazhuang City and Xingtang County in northern Hebei Province busted a gambling gang and seized 91 people on the scene, local police said Thursday.

A total of 110 police officers took part in the operation from Wednesday night to early Thursday and captured the gamblers, including 34 women, in a abandoned mine. The police confiscated 200,000 yuan and seized 26 vehicles at the site, said a police spokesman.

Police found in initial investigation that gambling at the mine started in early December and most of the gamblers came from Quyang, Dingzhou, Anguo, Boye, Lixian and Qingyuan counties in Hebei.

A wanted professional gambler was found among the 91 people, he said.

The police are identifying the organizers of the gambling, he added.
