KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia Airlines announced here on Tuesday the launch of a comprehensive application of mobile phones for its passengers from ticket booking to check-in.

The application, called MHmobile, allowed passengers to book, pay, check-in and board their flight by simply using their mobile phones, the Malaysian national carrier said.

The mobile airline application also connected bookings to some hot websites enabling friends and colleagues to be informed about each other's travel plans.

Malaysia Airlines Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Azmil Zahruddin said, "As a global carrier, we understand the importance of embracing new technologies to ensure that our passengers enjoy seamless service."

"We did not want to simply miniaturize our website for use on mobile phones but instead created an offering based on one web application, one link and one click with no download required," Azmil said.

In conjunction with the launch of the mobile airline application, Malaysia Airlines said that it will enter into a marketing partnership with Maxis Berhad, one of Malaysia's leading mobile phone service providers.

From Dec. 8-31, customers who purchase a first class or business class ticket would receive a complimentary iPhone, but with terms and conditions, the airline said at a press release.

While economy class customers stand to win 10 iPhones via luckydraw, it added.
