BANGKOK, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Thai government has already prepared security measures in the country's deep South ahead of a visit by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva Wednesday, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said Tuesday.
Earlier, Suthep and Thai Army Chief General Anupong Paochinda visited the deep South to help involved security authorities plan the security measures, the Thai News Agency reported.
Suthep said he has believed that there could not be any problem during the visit by the two leaders.
Meanwhile, Thailand's National Security Council Secretary-General Thawil Pliensri said he also believes that local security authorities will be able to maintain security during the visit by the two leaders.
By this time, there is no report of any violence, the National Security Council Secretary said.
The Malaysian and Thai leaders are scheduled to jointly preside over a ceremony to inaugurate the Friendship Bridge over the Su-ngai Golok River to link Thailand and Malaysia.
The trip to Narathiwas is part of a three-day-official visit to Thailand by Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Thailand's deep South comprises mainly the three southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwas, and the four districts of Song-kla province.
Over 3,500 people have been killed by the daily violence attack by the suspected separatists since January 2004.
