JAKARTA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday is scheduled to open the fourth conference of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly at the Merdeka Building in Bandung, the Jakarta Post reported here.
At least 147 representatives of parliaments from 26 countries, three Asian parliament organizations and observers from four countries will attend the event, which will last until Thursday.
The Indonesian delegation comprises of 12 House of Representatives lawmakers. The Head of the House' inter-parliamentary cooperation body Hidayat Nurwahid said that environmentally friendly economic and social development in Asia would top the agenda of the conference, which coincides with the key UN climate change conference in Copenhagen.
The conference will result in the Bandung Declaration which underlines the important role of Asian countries in the international community, Hidayat said.
