¡¡NEW DELHI, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two persons were killed and at least 10 others injured following a gas leak in a factory in the central Indian city of Indore, a senior police official said Sunday.

"The gas leak happened at drug manufacturing unit Rinilife Science Private Ltd. late Saturday night. The gas, which is suspected to be poisonous in nature, killed two employees on the spot while 10 others who inhaled the gas have been admitted to a local hospital," the official said.

A probe has been ordered into the incident and senior officials have rushed to the factory, he said.

The gas leak came as India on Thursday marked the 25th anniversary of the world's worst industrial disaster in the city of Bhopal.

On December 3, 1984, a pesticide plant run by Union Carbide spewed about 40 tons of deadly methyl isocyanate gas into the city's air, killing about 4,000 people. The lingering effects of the poison raised the death toll to about 15,000 over the next few years.
