BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least 100 people were killed and131 others hospitalized in a nightclub blast apparently caused by indoor fireworks in the Russian city of Perm late Friday, local reports say.
The following are some of the major fire accidents that occurred in nightclubs in the world since 2003:
On Dec. 4, 2009, at least 20 people were killed and five others injured in a fire that occurred at a nightclub in Medan on Sumatra island in Indonesia.
On Jan. 31, 2009, 15 people were killed and 24 others injured in a fire as guests set off fireworks inside a bar in the city of Changle in east China's Fujian Province.
On Jan. 1, 2009, a fire broke out in a Bangkok nightclub during New Year's celebrations, leaving at least 62 people dead and more than 200 others injured.
On Sept. 20, 2008, a fire broke out at a nightclub in China's southern city of Shenzhen when more than 300 people were watching a performance and fireworks ignited flammable material of the ceiling, leaving 44 people dead.
On April 19, 2008, a fire ignited by fireworks swept through a crowded nightclub in Quito, capital of Ecuador, leaving at least 15 people dead and 35 others injured.
On Dec. 30, 2004, 194 people died and 1,432 others were injured in a fire that broke out in a nightclub called Republica de Cromagnon in downtown Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina.
On Feb. 20, 2003, a blaze sparked by fireworks at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island of the United States, killed at least 95 people and injured more than 180 others.
