QUITO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa condemned Thursday the attack against TV channel Teleamazonas and ordered "an exhaustive investigation" of the event.

The attack was carried out with an explosive device in the parking lot at 05:57 a.m. (1057 GMT), three minutes before the channel's first broadcast, causing no injuries or damages.

In a statement issued by the Presidency's Office, Correa said the attack led to his "immediate condemnation" and he ordered the commander of Ecuadorian Police, Freddy Martinez, to find out those responsible.

Traces in the place of the attack were being analyzed to determine the type of the explosives, and to see whether it was the same with the one collected after an attack eight months ago.

The explosion coincided with the pending approval of a controversial communications law by the National Assembly. Many said it may jeopardize the freedom of speech.
