TEGUCIGALPA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The ambassador of the United States in Honduras, Hugo Llorens praised on Monday the elections hosted on Sunday in the country, and he said the elections were a necessary element to solve the crisis, but it is not enough.
"It is important to work looking ahead on the implementation of Tegucigalpa-San Jose Agreement, which it also makes a path, together with the elections, to solve this problem and bring the reconciliation of the Honduran people," Llorens told the press.
Llorens said he trusts on the Honduran National Congress to make a transparent deliberation on Wednesday when discussing the restitution of ousted President Manuel Zelaya, as it was established in the Teguciglapa-San Jose Agreement (TSJA).
Llorens urged the Honduran deputies to take a decision on Zelaya's restitution as it has already received the opinion of the Supreme Court of Justice.
"It is important to have a discussion (in the Congress) with high levels of transparency, because there are other stages that must create the agreement, for example the government of reconciliation," Llorens said.
Llorens added that the elections of Sunday were a great democratic celebration because all the Honduran people went out to vote.
Llorens said that the elected President, Porfirio Lobo is a politician of great experience and desires of seeking the reconciliation.
More than 4.6 million Honduran were summoned on Sunday to choose President, three Vice Presidents, deputies to the National Congress, deputies to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) and mayors.
The outcomes gave the triumph to Lobo with 56 percent of the votes, while the second place was for the candidate of the ruling Liberal Party, Elvin Santos with 38 percent of the votes.
On Sunday night, Santos accepted his defeat and he urged his followers to accept the defeat and continue working with the winning party in favor of Honduras.
