RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Corinthians star striker, Ronaldo, was announced on Monday to be done for the year after the athlete injured his right hamstring in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Flamengo.

Ronaldo will undergo an MRI on Tuesday in order to better diagnose the severity of the injury.

Initial reports said that the star suffered a minor hyperextension of his right hamstring, who was injured when he attempted to dribble past the Flamengo defense in the 25th minute of the game.

The field was soggy due to the rain and caused Ronaldo to slip. The player had difficulty to get to his feet and asked to be substituted.

Ronaldo will miss the final match of the 2009 Brazilian championship on Dec. 6 when Corinthians travel to play Atletico-MG.

Ronaldo is set to stay away from the soccer field until 2010. However, he will begin physical therapy on Dec. 1 in order to treat the problem and get him ready for Corinthians' centennial year in 2010.
