KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of the boat capsizal offshore Kudat Town in East Malaysia's Sabah State last Thursday has risen to 13 as six more bodies were found on Monday.

Kudat police said that four of the six bodies discovered on Monday were found tied to the remains of the boat.

The four women were reportedly dead when their husbands tied them to the boat to prevent their bodies from drifting away before they escaped.

As of 9:00 pm on Monday, 13 bodies had been found, 13 others were rescued in the accident, and two passengers still missing.

Police said that the search and rescue operation was still on to find the two missing.

The wooden boat carrying 28 people and cargo sank at around 5:30 pm last Thursday after it left the Kudat Town for Pulau Banggi, about 20 nautical miles from Kudat.

Police said that the boat may sink due to bad weather.
