SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's listed firms saw a growth in exports by 2.2 percent in the first nine months of 2009, thanks to brisk sales in the electronics sector, the bourse operator said Monday.

According to the Korea Exchange (KRX), the 385 manufacturers listed on the Seoul main bourse reported outbound shipments amounting to 244 trillion won (209 billion U.S. dollars) for the January-September period.

During the same period last year, the companies saw exports amounting to 238.8 trillion won (204.4 billion U.S. dollars).

The electronics industry, which saw its overseas sales jump by 15.5 percent to 99.4 trillion won (85.1 billion U.S. dollars) for the nine months, helped pull up the total amount, the KRX said.

As of the end of September, exports took up 61.7 percent of the total sales in the manufacture sector, the KRX added.
