SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's industrial output grew for a fourth straight month in October as signs show that the country's economy is recovering faster than expected, a government report said on Monday.

According to the report by the National Statistical Office (NSO), South Korea's production in the mining and manufacturing sectors grew 0.2 percent year on year in October. The data grew year on year for the fourth month, continuing its July growth of a revised0.9 percent, which was the first turnaround in 10 months.

But the report also noted the figure in October decreased 3.8 percent from the previous month.

An official attributed the on-month decline to less working days in October.

"The Chuseok holiday fell in October this year. Except that, output still expanded 4.2 percent," the official said at a press briefing.

He said as output, consumption and investment are all increasing, the country's economy keeps rebound.

The South Korean government is considering to raise the country's growth forecast for 2010 as the economy is expected to grow even higher than its earlier projection of a 4-percent expansion.

According to the country's central bank, gross domestic product(GDP) grew 2.9 percent in the third quarter from three months earlier. The figure marked the highest since the first quarter of 2002 when the GDP advanced at 3.8 percent on quarter.
