CARACAS, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced on Sunday the start of "Admirable Campaign" to guide thepolitical struggle for parliamentary elections next year.
In the television program "Hello, President," Chavez asked his supporters to maintain unity in the electoral process scheduled for September 2010.
Chavez said that in the campaign the performance of his revolutionary government would be modelled on the military actions of the War of Independence of Venezuela, led by the Liberator Simon Bolivar in 1813.
Legislative elections in Venezuela set by the National Electoral Council will be held on Sept. 26, 2010, when people will also elect the representatives of the Latin American Parliament.
Other pending elections include the posts of 13 mayors, the governor of Amazonas state, councilors and members of parish councils.
The Venezuelan president also called on his supporters to defend the achievements of his government and maintain the socialist revolution, while warning of the danger of rightist forces regaining power in the South American country.
"If the counter-revolutionaries returned to Venezuela, the chase would be wild," Chavez warned, insisting on unity and awareness of the Socialists in order to ensure that "never again will this plague (the right) rule Venezuela."
Chavez warned that if counter-revolutionary returned to power, they would install U.S. military bases in Venezuela, privatize Venezuelan oil companies and destroy all that has been achieved during the past 10 years.
