TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran's lawmakers on Sunday allocated 20 million U.S. dollars to confront what they call "gross violations of human rights" by Britain and the United States, the English language satellite Press TV reported.
In a bill passed on Sunday, Iran's parliament (Majlis) earmarked 20 million dollars from Iran's Oil Stabilization Fund to investigate human rights abuse by the United States and British government, the report said.
The bill aims to counter the rising tide of the U.S. and British plots against Iran and also to raise world awareness about the numerous cases of human rights abuse by Britain and the United States, according to the report.
According to Press TV, the money will also be used to finance the efforts of human rights organizations and other groups to investigate the U.S. and British violations of international humanitarian laws.
But the report did not say which organizations would receive the fund.
Iran has constantly accused Western powers of earmarking funds to stir up protests against the country and its way of dealing with human rights. The United States and Britain have previously rejected Iran's accusations.
