KABUL, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- More than two dozen Taliban fighters were killed in an overnight operation in Khost province east of Afghanistan, a senior police officer said Sunday.

"A group of armed rebels stormed a center of Border Police in Tanai district Saturday night and police with the support of international forces' aircrafts retaliated killing 26 insurgents," commander of Border Police in the province Shir Ahmad Kuchi told Xinhua.

There were no casualties on the security forces, he stressed.

However, Taliban militants have not made comment.

More than 100,000 NATO-led forces with over 60,000 of them Americans have been stationed in Afghanistan to stabilize security in the war-torn country.
