HELSINKI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Finnish President Tarja Halonen sent a message of condolences to her Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday over train disaster in the country.
In the message to Medvedev, President Halonen expressed her condolences to relatives and friends of victims of the train derailment happened Friday evening in Russia, which has so far killed 26, with more than 100 injured.
Finnish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that no Finns were aboard the train.
The bomb attack on a train in Russia has also affected rail connections to Finland. Passengers will be delayed for many hours on trains between Moscow and Helsinki.
The Nevsky Express was carrying 682 people from Moscow to St Petersburg and was derailed on Friday evening near the village of Uglovka about 350 km north of Moscow. According to the report from Russia on Saturday that the train disaster was caused by a bomb attack.
