RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent in October from 7.7 percent in September and reached the lowest level of this year, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced on Thursday.
It was the second consecutive decrease in Brazil's unemployment rate.
Brazil's unemployed population totaled 1.8 million in October, roughly the same figure registered in September. The employed population stood at 21.5 million, stable if compared with September.
The number of jobs available in the industrial, construction and trade sectors all increased compared with September, up 1.8 percent, 0.3 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
In October, the Brazilian workers' average monthly income stood at 1,349 reais (775 U.S. dollars), roughly the same amount registered in September and up 3.2 percent year on year.
The average per capita household income totaled 885 reais (508 dollars), up 0.8 percent from September and 3.6 percent from the same period in 2008.
