MACAO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Macao's resident deposits for September 2009 rose slightly by 0.2 percent over the previous month to 203.5 billion patacas (25.76 billion U.S. dollars), according to the figures released on Thursday by the Monetary Authority of Macao.
Of the resident deposits, Pataca deposits decreased by 0.5 percent month-to-month in September, while HK dollar deposits and other foreign currency deposits grew at respective rates of 0.04 percent and 1.8 percent, the figures showed.
Meanwhile, non-resident deposits dropped 1.8 percent month-to-month to 72.6 billion patacas (9.19 billion U.S. dollars) in September, while public sector deposits with local banking sector increased 0.7 percent to 13.4 billion patacas (1.69 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Authority.
As a result, total deposits with the banking sector contracted 0.3 percent from the previous month to 289.6 billion patacas (36.65 billion U.S. dollars) in September, with pataca and HK dollar respectively accounting for 22.1 percent and 45.4 percent of the total deposit in the period, according to the Authority.
