LOS ANGELES, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- More than 120 firefighters have been busy putting out a fierce brush fire that was fanned by gusty winds overnight Wednesday in Anaheim Hills, Orange Country some 50 km southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

The fire was started 9:55 pm Tuesday (0555 GMT Wednesday) on the east side of State Route 241, and by Wednesday morning it has burned 60 acres (24.28 hectare) of land in the Anaheim Hills area. As of 4 am, the fire was about 10 percent contained, officials said. However, firefighters expected winds to pick up at daybreak.

About 200 firefighters have been deployed at the scene by early morning, according to an Orange County Fire Authority dispatcher. Armed by 21 engines, 4 tanker truck, a bulldozer and one water-dropping helicopter sent by neighboring Los Angeles County, they have been busy keeping the flame from away homes about 3 km to the west of the freeway. Fire commanders were confident they would gain the upper hand on the blaze in spite of the winds.

The so-called "241 Fire" has forced the authorities to shut down a stretch in both directions of the state route 241. The southbound side has since reopened, officials said. No structures are threatened and nobody is hurt so far. The authorities has not ordered an evacuation. The burning area is about two miles (3.2 km)south of an area that was hit by a fire last year.

The fire has been moving its way up the hills in the area. Gusty winds of up to 50 miles (80 km) per hour are fanning the flame, help the fire to spread out quickly.

The authorities has launched an investigation into the cause of the flame.
