KABUL, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Afghan acting Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta on Tuesday met British and U.S. officials, discussing a major international conference on Afghanistan expected to be held in Kabul soon.

A statement of Foreign Ministry said Spanta on Tuesday held talks with British Ambassador to Afghanistan Mark Sedwill.

"Both side exchanged views on issues about a major conference which is expected to be held in the near future," said the statement.

"Holding an international conference for Afghanistan would be a subject of a compact between Afghanistan and international community," the statement quoted Spanta as saying.

The statement also said that Spanta met Anthony Wayne, U.S. Coordinating Director for Development and Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, on the same day.

"United States supports the upcoming conference on supporting Afghanistan," the statement quoted Wayne as saying.

Supporting democracy process in Afghanistan, war against terrorism and opium, as well as strengthening Afghan National Army and police would be the subject of the conference, the statement further said. ¡¡
