Thailand's anti-gov't group postpones mass rally

    BANGKOK, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's anti-government group, the United Front for Democracy against Democracy (UDD), announced Wednesday the group has postponed a mass rally.

    UDD's core leaders including Veera Musikapong and Nattawut Saikua announced the group will discuss again in mid-December about a new schedule of the anti-government rally, Thai News Agency reported.

    On Tuesday ousted former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra Tuesday urged the UDD core leaders to defer the mass rally since it is not an appropriate time.

    Earlier, the UDD group or the red-shirted people planned to stage the mass anti-government rally from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 in Bangkok.

    The rally's purpose is to bring down the coalition government.

Thailand to impose Internal Security Act in Bangkok during anti-gov't rallies

    BANGKOK, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The weekly cabinet meeting of the Thai government on Tuesday agreed to enforce Internal Security Act (ISA) in Thailand's capital Bangkok from Nov. 28 to Dec. 14 to ensure law and order during a series of mass anti-government rallies to be held.

    The United Front for Democracy against Democracy (UDD) or the red-shirted people will stage mass anti-government rallies from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2. Full story

Gov't not decided if Internal Security Act should be imposed in N Thailand

    BANGKOK, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The weekly cabinet meeting Tuesday did not make any decision if the Internal Security Act (ISA) should be imposed in a northern province of Chiang Mai, where the Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is going to visit.

    The government will assess additional reports concerning the situation in Chiang Mai from security authorities, prior to making the final decision, Thai News Agency reported. Full story
