PYONGYANG, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has called on workers to upgrade their technical skills to improve people's living standard, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Wednesday.

During recent inspections at farms and factories in the North Phyongan Province, Kim urged producers to introduce ultra-modern science and technology to increase their production capacity.

He visited a bearing factory, a shoes factory, a grass craft production plant and a chicken farm during his trip.

The KCNA did not mention the date of the visits.

The DPRK is currently undertaking a "100-day campaign" aimed at boosting its economy. The media have frequently reported on Kim's visits to factories and farms recently.
