GENEVA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua)--Swiss pilot Yves Rossy will attempt to become the first person to make an intercontinental crossing by jet wing on Wednesday.

Rossy will fly from Morocco to Spain in jet-powered wings provided by Webtel.mobi, a mobile phone company that has funded the stunt.

"It's going to be historic. No one has ever done this before," Rossy said in a statement. The launch will take place on Wednesday at 2:30 PM Central European Time from one of five possible locations on the Northwest coast of Morocco.

When the launch aircraft has reached 6500 feet above sea level, Rossy will jump. He will fly 40 kilometers to Atlanterra, on Spain's southwestern coast, in an estimated 13 minutes.

Four Jet-Cat P200 engines power the carbon fiber wings, allowing Rossy to fly up with 300 kilometers an hour. Rossy rehearsed the maneuver on Tuesday.

Rossy, nicknamed Fusion Man, built his own jet wings in 2006, and has used them to fly over the Swiss Alps and the English Channel.
