JERUSALEM, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had no "official comment" at the moment on a report which said Lebanese army Saturday fired at an Israeli drone, an IDF spokesman told Xinhua on the phone.
The spokesman gave no further information to Xinhua. Earlier, an IDF spokeswoman told Xinhua that the Israeli army knew about the report and was checking the situation.
Earlier Saturday, the Lebanese Armed Forces issued a statement saying that it launched anti-aircraft defense fire toward an Israeli drone violating Lebanese airspace, according to the official National News Agency.
The statement said the plane was fired by anti-aircraft units stationed on the coast of Jbeil, a city in South Lebanon, when it was flying at a medium altitude. It proceeded to leave Lebanese airspace shortly after the fire.
Lebanon accuses Israel of violating Lebanese airspace on a daily basis with its manned and unmanned aircraft, but before this time Lebanon could do nothing except protests.
