GOYANG, South Korea, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Sibel Ozkan came out the surprising winner of the women's 48kg jerk at the weightlifting world championships here on Saturday, as some operation errors disqualified Chinese Wang Mingjuan's final lift.

Wang's third attempt in the clean and jerk called an 118kg lift, and she smoothly made it. The three-time world champion then rushed to her team leader Ma Wenguang to celebrate the could-be sweeping victory.

She was later told, however, that the competition staff committed unexpected errors in adding weights to her barbell and the third lift of 118kg would not be counted.

The incident cost Wang a clean sweep for three gold medals in sight, but the 24-year-old still clinched the total gold with a title-winning snatch of 93kg and the third-placed jerk of 115kg to total 208kg.

Ozkan, the Olympic silver medalist in the same category last year in Beijing, thus won the jerk trophy with a 117kg lift.

Her fellow Turk Nurcan Taylan, the Athens Olympic champion in 2004, took the silver after jerking 115kg but weighting 0.53kg less than Wang.
